  • Story: I was one of those kids who you could call a “Yellow Book” Martial Artist. Things were tight in my family and martial arts lesson were not something we could slide into the budget. So starting with the A’s I went and took every free introductory lesson in my quest to become a martial artist.

    Time passed. I got really good at the basics, and finally happened upon my teacher would help me through the basics and beyond. Plus his price was one that my family could afford, FREE!

    Sifu Robert Lee, has a storied history of his own, but it was Sifu Lee who couched me through my first martial arts events. It was there where I learned to love sports competition. I was never one for the popular organized sports. Not fast, enough, not big enough. But in the martial arts I could be all of these things and more.

    I began my transition from the traditional martial arts to mixed martial arts a little over a year ago, when visiting friends before a military deployment, I vowed to that I was going to give MMA a try.

    I can remember them laughing, at what they must have thought was macho-Red Bull-fueled-boasting.

    But I was, I am serious. I had my first fight back in October. Thanks to excellent coaching, and hours spent honing myself I won. I continue to train and help to promote sport.
